Udo Gansloßer

Dr. Udo Gansloßer is a lecturer in zoology. His scientific career began with tree kangaroos, possibly because their rather clumsy climbing attempts reminded him of his own athletic ability. After his dissertation in Heidelberg, he returned to terrestrial life and focused on the social behavior of kangaroos in general. In 1991, he received his habilitation at the Zoological Institute Erlangen. He is currently a lecturer in zoology at the Institute of Zoology and Evolutionary Research at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena and regularly conducts courses in behavioral biology and zoo biology, which are supplemented by a biostatistics course at the University of Würzburg, Department of Animal Welfare. For several years, the Canidae (canids) have been one of the focal points of his interdisciplinary working group, which spans from purely zoological and veterinary topics to questions of human-dog relationships, animal welfare ethics, social sciences, and law. Additionally, with the "Einzelfelle" (individual cases) offering, he provides consultation for individual questions concerning dogs.
