Retriever Training: Marking – Training Structure

For dogs to learn to correctly assess the direction and distance of a mark under a wide variety of influencing factors, a step-by-step training structure is necessary. Only through structured training and extensive experience are dogs able to mark "spot on". They must learn to trust their eyes and nose, to take into account the terrain and wind, and to remember more and more fall areas.
