Retriever Training: Marking – Basics
Duration 90 minutes incl. 30 minutes for questions
Access to the webinar recording.
Available immediately
An important pillar of retriever work is "marking." When marking, the dog must be able to remember the direction and estimate the distance. The demands on the dog are very diverse. Among other things, the dog must calmly and patiently wait for the handler's retrieving signal, run directly to the mark, and show initiative in the fall area of the mark. Both visual and scent work are required here.
In the first webinar, judge Anja Möller and trainer Norma Zvolsky explain the theoretical foundations.
- Requirements for the team (dog and human)
- What is a single mark, double mark, memory mark?
- How is a marking performance evaluated?
- What influencing factors (terrain, light conditions, wind, etc.) exist?
Webinar "Retriever Training Marking – Training Structure"
The second webinar focuses on building good training. Judge Anja Möller and trainer Norma Zvolsky share their more than 25 years of experience and vividly explain how good training is structured:
- How do I build structured training?
- How does the dog learn to correctly assess distance, wind, and terrain?
- When and how is help provided?
