Dogs from shelters or "second-hand" primarily need peace, time, and space in the first weeks and months to settle into their new home. Often, the well-intentioned eagerness of new owners to make up for perceived shortcomings of the dog leads to additional and, above all, unnecessary stress. This often results in various behavioral problems and promotes additional stress symptoms. Instead of pity, it is crucial to understand the dog's needs and enable them a stress-free start.
Many of these dogs have little to no experience with walks, dog meetings, or obedience training. Suddenly being confronted with all these stimuli can be overwhelming and lead to unwanted behaviors: insecurity towards people, fear of environmental stimuli, refusal to go for walks, and stress reactions such as snapping or biting can occur. These behaviors are avoidable if the dog is gradually accustomed to its new life. This webinar is an all-round package for a good start to a new life.
Learn in this webinar:
• how to give your dog the necessary time to optimally "arrive" in its new home,
• what behaviors to expect,
• how to master initial challenges such as house-training, leashing, touching, feeding, and relieving themselves,
• case studies where good intentions were overdone, what effects this had on the dogs, and what we changed and optimized,
• how to structure your daily life with an insecure dog,
• walks with dogs that have never had to orient themselves to a human,
• how to build a successful relationship with a rescue dog,
• how to guide dogs that are exclusively in hunting mode outdoors,
• how to recognize stress in dogs and how to avoid unnecessary stress, and
• which behaviors are normal and will subside over time.
