Do you remember a time when zoo animals stupidly paced back and forth behind bars or swayed stereotypically – deprived not only of their freedom but also of their species-appropriate behavior and joy of life? Fortunately, these conditions are largely a thing of the past in most zoos. Now, enclosures are adapted to their natural habitats, and animals are kept busy in ways that have greatly reduced behavioral disorders on the one hand, and strengthened group cohesion through collaborative problem-solving, for example, when searching for food, on the other.
But did you also know that this concept of Environmental and Behavioral Enrichment (EBE) can also be applied to our domestic dogs and can help to bring you and your dog even closer together, counteract behavioral problems, and provide your dog with species-appropriate mental and physical stimulation?
In the lecture, you will learn more about…
- how Environmental and Behavioral Enrichment was discovered and is now applied in zoo, farm animal, and pet keeping
- the different forms of enrichment that exist
- the positive behavioral and neurophysiological effects of enrichment that have already been proven
- how you can integrate enrichment into your daily life with your dog
- what enrichment can do for the relationship between you and your dog
The content will be supported by images and videos that will give you insight into practical implementation.
In the lecture, you will learn new approaches to not only keep your dog busy but also to strengthen your bond as a team, improve your dog's problem-solving skills, counteract behavioral problems, and experience adventures together.
Join us and dive into the world of your dog!
