About the Author

Thich Nhat Hanh

Thich Nhat Hanh was a Zen Buddhist monk. He was also a teacher, poet, peace activist, and author of numerous books. In his books and speeches, he emphasized the importance of meditation and living in the present moment, among other things. Born in Vietnam in 1926, his war experience and persecution were followed by exile in France. Not least for this reason, Thich Nhat Hanh was a constant advocate for non-violence and peace. In 1971, he co-founded a rural commune near Paris called "Les Patates douces". In 1982, the "Plum Village" Buddhist Center was added near Bordeaux, where retreats are regularly held. People from all over the world found and continue to find their way there year after year. He died in January 2022.
