About the Author

Peter H. Becker

Dr. rer. nat. habil. Peter H. Becker is Scientific Director (ret.) at the Institute of Avian Research in Wilhelmshaven, a seabird ecologist, and the founder and long-time head of the Common Tern Project. He provided expert support and advice to Bettina Sauer. For more than 25 years, he taught Zoology and Ecology as an adjunct professor at the University of Oldenburg. He has dedicated decades of his life to common terns, a commitment for which the Waterbird Society awarded him the Robert Cushman Murphy Prize. Even today, terns inspire him as much as they did on the first day.
