About the Author

Günther Bloch

Günther Bloch was born in Cologne in 1953. A trained travel agent, he founded the canine behavior center "Eifel" Dog Farm in 1977, which consisted of a research department, a dog training school, and a dog boarding facility. In his active time as a dog trainer between 1978 and 2001, he advised and supervised nearly 32,000 human-dog teams. After completing his behavioral studies on captive wolves (Wolf Park/USA) and mixed canid groups (Trumler Station), Günther Bloch, together with Elli H. Radinger and others, founded the "Society for the Protection of Wolves e.V." From 1992, with expert advice from Paul Paquet and Mike Gibeau, he conducted behavioral research on timber wolves in the national parks of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Since 2011, Günther Bloch has been a "Resident of Canada" and lives with his wife Karin in the province of Alberta. He offers tours into the Canadian wilderness for interested individuals (Bloch-Tours@shaw.ca).
