Ephraim Kishon

Ephraim Kishon (1924-2005) was born Hoffmann Ferenc in Budapest. In 1944 he escaped from the Sobibor extermination camp. After the war, he studied sculpture, and in 1949 he fled from Hungary to Israel, where he became the world-renowned satirist Ephraim Kishon. He was married to Sara for over 40 years and has five grandchildren from his three famous children Raphael, Amir, and Renana. After Sara's death, he married the Austrian writer Lisa Witasek in 2003. His books have been translated into 37 languages and have sold over 43 million copies worldwide, including more than 31 million in German.
