Dog well-being is a complex concept encompassing numerous factors. A particularly important aspect is pain – not just as a physical sensation, but also in its close connection with emotions. But how can pain be reliably identified? And what role do emotions play in this process?
In this webinar, Dr. Annika Bremhorst demonstrates how science and modern technologies contribute to researching and better understanding pain in dogs. We start with an introduction to the concept of well-being and the role pain plays in it. Subsequently, we examine how research investigates pain behavior and what methods are used for detection.
A special focus is on the role of artificial intelligence (AI): How can it help objectively identify pain? What are the current developments, and what challenges still need to be overcome? Finally, we explore the connection between pain and emotions – because pain influences not only a dog's physical but also emotional experience.
Learn in this webinar:
• why pain is a central factor for dog well-being,
• how pain is scientifically researched and identified,
• what AI-supported methods for pain detection are being developed, and
• how pain and emotions are connected and why this is important.
