Who Ticks Like What? Part 1 – Dog Breeds and Trailing

Certain breeds have peculiarities that one should be aware of to do them justice. For example, the Beagle tends to "beagle away" and look like a perfect tracker even without a scent. One must work with them specifically from the beginning, as they are most likely to be a relaxed, conscientious type.
In contrast, one should allow the independent Czechoslovakian Wolfdog freedom and creativity, as they are usually problem-solvers. If you restrict this free spirit, their motivation will disappear. They always want to track down the freshest scent.
If you guide the ambitious, handler-focused Beauceron too slowly, they will become disoriented. If, however, you rush the conscientiously ambitious Border Collie, they lose their deep scenting ability and experience stress when problem-solving. And why does the ambitiously conscientious Weimaraner circle in some situations? If you know the secrets of their breed or mix and their scent dog type, you can score many points with the right trails and ideal handler behavior, and have a stable and self-assured partner at the end of the leash who enjoys showing leadership qualities.
“Because you should never tell a Southern European or a Czech how to search!”
