How to identify terns in Central Europe.
Among terns, there are many pairs of species that cause confusion: Common or Arctic Tern, Black or White-winged Tern? Especially in their non-breeding and juvenile plumages, a correct identification requires paying attention to the right details. Because then, even species that are otherwise unmistakable can pose difficulties.
The goal of this webinar is to reliably identify the tern species of Central Europe. We will learn, using photos and illustrations, which features to look for. Which characteristics are suitable for differentiation and which are less so? Can calls be helpful for identification? We will also take a look at rarer species.
In this webinar, you will learn bird identification from a professional:
- What to look for in an unknown tern?
- How is age determined?
- What important features are there besides plumage?
- Where do which terns occur?
- At what time of year are the species expected?
Who is this webinar suitable for?
Both beginner and more experienced birdwatchers will benefit from this webinar.
