Waders are very popular with birdwatchers – but identifying them is not always easy. Temminck's Stint or Little Stint? Wood Sandpiper or Green Sandpiper? Little Ringed Plover or Common Ringed Plover? Distinguishing some waders is not easy even with a good field guide. In this webinar, you will learn how to reliably differentiate similar species based on features, calls, habitat, and behavior. The changes in features over the year and with increasing age will also be discussed in detail. Because Redshanks do not always have the typical, bright red legs, and the characteristically long bill of the Eurasian Curlew can also be confusingly short.
In this webinar, you will learn bird identification from a professional:
- what features should be observed in standing birds and what should I look for in flight?
- how do habitat and behavior help with identification?
- which species are to be expected when and where?
- how can I be sure about identifying a rare exception?
Who is this webinar suitable for?
For birdwatchers who still find the identification of waders (shorebirds) a bit challenging.
