More and more dogs are being labeled "socially conspicuous." The variety of disruptive behaviors is constantly expanding, ranging from defiant leash reactivity to serious aggression and biting attacks towards other dogs or people. But is a dog that acts out necessarily behaviorally disturbed? When might it be "breed-typical behavior," when a character trait, and when is it a behavioral anomaly or even a disorder?
With the constantly growing demands placed on our dogs, the number of dogs that cannot meet them and quickly fall through the cracks is also increasing. Just as a bouncer will rarely meet the requirements of a professional nail technician, the same applies to some dogs who quickly become disruptive in the wrong environment. A conspicuous dog is not necessarily behaviorally disturbed, and a behaviorally disturbed dog doesn't always have to be the most conspicuous one!
In this webinar, you will learn:
- how conspicuous behavior manifests itself,
- how a behavioral anomaly differs from a behavioral disorder,
- why dogs become socially conspicuous in the first place,
- how our behavior influences dogs,
- whether disruptive behavior can be "cured,"
- what role correct management plays, and
- how you can deal with behavioral anomalies.
