Many things are referred to as problem behavior in dogs: from the dangerous biting dog to the nice but untrained 40-kg whirlwind. There are over 10 million dogs in Germany, and the proportion of dogs exhibiting conspicuous behaviors is steadily increasing. The causes of problem behavior in dogs are diverse. Whether a dog actually has a pathological behavioral disorder or whether its behavior is problematic due to prevailing prejudices is what many people who own such a dog wonder. The suffering is great, because the view still prevails that the "best friend of man" must always be kind. So how should it be categorized when a dog does something that is conspicuous?

In this comprehensive work, we cover the broad spectrum of behavior perceived as problematic and behavior that is actually problematic, and explain what aspects need to be considered.
