In the course of training to address unwanted hunting behavior, we increase waiting in all its facets and develop reliable recall and stop signals. This means that precarious puzzle pieces are less likely to start, and once started, can be quickly interrupted. Such a good training result means a lot of renunciation for our dogs in a "wild" environment. To ensure that emotional well-being does not suffer and frustration does not overwhelm us at the end of a training day, we address the dog's needs and deficits and work on compensating for lost "wild" hobbies.
Anja Fiedler explains:
• what the idea behind enrichment is,
• how deficits and needs are identified,
• what conclusions we can draw from the top twenty canine needs,
• where and how canine hobbies work outdoors and indoors,
• which areas of behavior we should cover with hobbies, and
• why hobbies are not everything when it comes to the emotional well-being of our dogs.
