From buying the first Icelandic horse with all its pitfalls, to the first farrier appointment, to encountering self-proclaimed horse experts and attending a riding course - all experiences are recounted in a humorously bizarre way with a healthy dose of self-irony.

Hördur and Nonni are the two Icelandic horses that have their humans firmly under control. They make it unmistakably clear to the family what makes a horse's life worth living. The fact that the lovingly quirky aspects of the recreational rider scene and their horses are also highlighted can only be intentional.
