Villa Gemmingen and the Gustav Siegle Estate on Karlshöhe

Gustav Siegle (1840–1905), co-founder, main shareholder and chairman of the board of BASF, was Württemberg's first major entrepreneur, with a fortune that even surpassed that of the king. At the age of 26, he had acquired almost the entire Karlshöhe in Stuttgart to transform it into a family estate and a Gesamtkunstwerk. This volume tells his life story and the building history of the three exceptionally large and valuable villas on Karlshöhe. A book full of exciting insights into the life of an upper-class family of the late Wilhelminian era, with highlights on Stuttgart's entrepreneurial culture, which has so far been little researched.
