With around 1.4 million roe deer harvested annually, roe deer are Germany's most common big game species. The small cloven-hoofed animal is found almost nationwide in Germany, so almost every hunter has the opportunity to hunt roe deer. For many hunters, hunting the roebuck during the rut (mating season) is the most fascinating type of hunting.
