Reactivity and impulsivity, as part of the canine temperament, form the foundation of a dog's personality.
These internal drives are controlled by self-regulation. This includes the ability to direct attention and control impulses, as well as the capacity to tolerate frustration and regulate other emotions and aggressive behavior.
In this webinar, Dr. Marie Nitzschner illuminates the connection between various personality traits and the ability for self-regulation.
She presents current study results that provide an overview of which genetic and environmental influences significantly shape a dog's reactivity and impulsivity. Additionally, factors influencing a dog's self-regulatory abilities will be discussed.
Topics such as ADHD, addictive behavior, stereotypies, and compulsive behavior will also be discussed.
