Available immediately
The dog leads a double life: on the one hand, it is a family member in a human household, and on the other hand, its relationships with other dogs still play a major role for it.
- How does it manage to balance these two worlds?
- What do new research findings say about the human-dog relationship?
- How important is the relationship with other dogs to a dog?
In the webinar, Kate reports on exciting scientific findings on canine social behavior, relating them to our everyday lives and training with dogs. Kate divides this broad field thematically into two main parts:
1. Social behavior with dogs
Here you will learn a lot about social behavior with other dogs, the social organization of free-ranging dog groups, how dogs interact with each other in dog parks, and how dogs communicate with each other acoustically (barking & growling), olfactorily (smelling), and visually (behavior). Kate will also discuss new studies on playing with other dogs.
2. Social behavior with humans
This part is about understanding what dogs know about humans: Kate presents studies that have investigated what dogs know about our perspective on the world, our perception, and our inner state.
Who is this seminar suitable for?
Dog trainers will be brought up to date with the latest research.\nDog owners who want to learn more about their dogs' great social competence and get suggestions for socialization and everyday situations.
