More and more dogs are being labeled as anxious dogs, with trauma and deprivation disorders often described as the cause. Many of these dogs come from animal welfare organizations, but even dogs with perfect upbringing can develop anxieties.
In this webinar, we will forgo a theoretical introduction to the topic and focus on practical examples with anxious dogs. Using case studies, we will show how varied anxieties can be and what possibilities exist to help dogs break free from the cycle of fear. For this webinar, we have followed and documented the development and training of dogs with anxiety problems over several years. We will show video footage and explain their development.
Anxiety in dogs comes in many different forms. We will talk about extreme cases of dogs who are afraid of people, flee, and bite when approached. About dogs who show avoidance behavior or are constantly on the run during walks. And also about dogs with slight environmental insecurities, such as dogs who don't want to go up stairs.
In this webinar, you will learn:
• How to recognize and understand insecurity, mistrust, and anxieties in dogs,
• Different training approaches,
• How to deal with environmental insecurity, flight and avoidance behavior, fear of people or other dogs,
• How to better assess the character and personalities of dogs,
• What humans need when dealing with insecure and anxious dogs,
• How to lead dogs out of anxiety, and
• How to manage avoidance behavior, for example, when being touched or leashed.
