In our society, there are sensible rules for conflict situations, which are primarily intended to prevent us from going at each other with pitchforks and clubs. This makes sense, because injuries are not only unpleasant, but also always have consequences in a community. As humans, we strive to fight battles with words, because spoken language is what significantly distinguishes us from the rest of nature.
Dogs, as close relatives of wolves, which also live in social communities, are unique in the animal world when it comes to their means of communication: unlike wolves, they can bark in a multifaceted way, while at the same time their expressive behavior is more limited by the process of domestication when it comes to resolving a dispute.
This webinar is about the dog's possibilities to deal with conflicts, both with other dogs and with humans. What behavior can the dog use to express itself? What conflicts are even important to it as a dog? Are there differences between breeds and is there a genetic predisposition to aggression? Embedded in ethological and evolutionary biological findings, the goal of this webinar is to gain a deeper understanding of the aggressive behavior of one's own dogs, as well as unfamiliar dogs, and to be able to better assess and interpret situations in the future. This knowledge base opens up a new world of communication – between dogs and between humans and dogs. With plenty of visual material and practical tips.
