About the Author

Stefanie Zysk

Dr. Stefanie Zysk, pediatrician, author, and mother of two, has been familiar with our local flora and fauna since childhood. With her father, himself a doctor, hunter, and ornithologist, she spent many hours of her childhood in the wilderness of Bavaria and Canada. Her family always included numerous pets, such as guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, cats, and even a tame fox.

Stefanie Zysk received the German Youth Non-Fiction Prize from the Reading Promotion Association for two of her books in the categories "Non-Fiction Plus 2013" and "Best Original Title 2015." The German Academy for Children's and Youth Literature honored her in 2013 for a flower herbarium and selected her KOSMOS book "Igelhaus und Meisenknödel" as the environmental book tip for January 2016.
