About the Author
Saskia Gunzer
Saskia Gunzer, born in Hanover in 1966, was fascinated by horses from childhood. She observed them and studied their behavior. Her great thirst for knowledge led her from Western riding, circus lessons, and liberty dressage to classical riding. Due to her now 20-year-old Arabian gelding "Dimitri," who was unable to be ridden for a period due to illness, she embarked on a search for ways to maintain his fitness and keep him mentally engaged. This led her to long-reining, which captivated her in a very special way. Today, the expert and trainer in long-reining, in-hand work, liberty dressage, and circus lessons lives near Hamburg. She trains horses and ponies of various breeds in long-reining up to High School. With "Dimitri," she enchants every audience in her long-reining and liberty dressage shows. Thanks to her meticulous dedication, Saskia Gunzer has achieved numerous successes in long-reining with "Dimitri," for example, in 2008, they took first place in the Baroque Horse Cup at the "Pferd & Jagd" trade fair in Hanover. To continuously perfect her long-reining work, she trains with Andreas Hausberger, Chief Rider of the Spanish Riding School.
