Michael Strick

"Michael Strick (born 1944) is what one might, with some justification, call a "late bloomer" in equestrianism: he didn't experience the smell of a horse stable until he was 18. He was probably infected with the "horse virus" at that point, a virus he would never shake. Shortly after his first contact with equestrian sports, however, the topic faded into the background due to his education and military service. He started riding again at twenty-six – by which time younger riding companions had already collected two shoeboxes full of ribbons – and bought his first horse: a five-year-old jet-black Anglo-Arabian mare named "Angora."
