About the Author

Joachim Erfkamp

Joachim Erfkamp, born in 1962, studied biology and chemistry in Bielefeld from 1982 to 1990 and received his doctorate in chemistry in the same year. Since 1990, he has been involved with orchids and is a member of numerous orchid societies as well as an editorial board member of the journal "Die Orchidee", for which he worked from 1992 to 2009. His passion for orchids has taken him all over the world. He has given lectures in England, France, Italy, Sweden, and Denmark, served as a judge at European and international orchid conferences, such as the World Orchid Congress in Vancouver in 1999 or the Orchid Exhibition in Shah Alam, Malaysia in 2003, and is the author of numerous specialist articles in Australia and the USA.
