About the Author

Barbara Krasemann

Barbara Krasemann is a passionate gardener. After living in the city with her family for years, she was drawn back to the countryside. In the idyllic Altmühltal valley near Thalmässing, she found a football-field-sized plot of land where she wanted to realize her garden dream. It was to become a dream garden with 11 "rooms." In just under a quarter of a century, she learned to use a scythe, spade, and rake. With a lot of support from friends, family, and neighbors, she taught herself gardening and, with great perseverance, created her green paradise – full of wonderful, old plant varieties, all of which she processes into delicacies using her own recipes. In her dream garden, she offers guided tours and gives lectures to help preserve old utility plants. She also shares her gardening knowledge in her two books and in lectures. She can be seen regularly on BR 3 in the well-known gardening show "Quer Beet".
